South Wales act TangleJack are John-Paul Davies and Duncan Leigh. Last year, I reviewed their superb album, The Ragged Edge. You can see this by clicking on the button below:

Come 2025, the pair return with a brand-new single, Tomorrow St. and this website warmly welcomes it. It is released 5th April, and if you visit their website at http://www.tanglejack.co.uk/ you will see several live dates coming up, and if you can get to see them, I thoroughly recommend that you do so. They are a joy, seriously.

The new single is a commentary on the social issues which have plagued us for generations. Plus ca change. It is written in the style of the 1960’s protest movement made famous in Greenwich Village, harmonica crying out, the delicate guitars, and the duo whose harmonising is note and tone perfect.

Truths are universal, and a core truth is the inherent decency of the ordinary men and women they sing about, in the rust belts, in the countryside, beyond Downing Street and the liars and vagabonds who inhabit the gilded halls of Whitehall, Tomorrow St. is worth striving towards, dreaming of a better future, fighting for through the medium of music and community, marching to a common beat.

The finest protest songs do not merely make a political point, they offer an alternative vision, one of warmth, and bring audiences together with common purpose. TangleJack are worthy members of this long and proud tradition, and this single is highly recommended to you (listen to it via their website and on streaming platforms). I, for one, am really looking forward to the next long player.
