This is an award which celebrates the spirit of those heady days of the 1970’s when bands such as Purple, Rainbow, Sabbath, et al ruled the roost. An award to celebrate the finest of modern rock music which captures the spirit of that era, but sounds utterly unique.

John Cook, Charlie Bramald, Mark Gatland, and Dom Bennison are amongst the finest of modern rock performers, and they formed Age of Distraction. The debut album, A Game of Whispers, became an immediate favourite of mine on release.

Their wonderful track, Compromised, wins this award. Get the album at https://ageofdistraction.bandcamp.com/album/a-game-of-whispers
