At the time of writing this wee introduction, Lazland has published precisely 100 new 2025 album release reviews, a record for the website.

I continue to be inordinately proud of lazland.org, and pledge to keep it advert-free and a labour of love for as long as I am able.

Every single album reviewed has been cherished and enjoyed. Most review sites tend to publish a simple “best of”, or “top ten” & etc. list of worthy works, but from the outset, this site has been different. Yes, I always have a “best track of the year” award, but the remainder serve both as a celebration of the music that we love and a short review of the year. It should be taken, then, as my personal reflections, and with 100 reviews, plus a myriad of new music played weekly on my radio show, it would be impossible to fit them all in this reflection. Therefore, if you do not appear, worry not! Without you, this website would not exist, and believe me, if I didn’t enjoy your work, you would not be here.

Lazland will return with brand-new reviews early in 2026 (I am taking a couple of weeks out to recharge the batteries). Also, don’t forget that you can listen to me weekly on Saturday afternoons at 16:00 UK time on Progzilla Radio (www.progzilla.com). Every show is also available as a podcast published almost immediately after the end of the live broadcast, and you can subscribe to it on the podcast page.

To all of you around the good planet earth who visit this website, thank you for your support. Most importantly, thank you on behalf of the artists featured here for supporting their music. The state of popular music has never more dire, and certainly the commercial outlook for quality artists has never been more challenging, with the streaming giants perpetuating this myth that art can be enjoyed for a pittance. It simply isn’t true, but let’s look on the positive side. I cannot remember a time, certainly since the “classic” era of the early to mid-1970’s, when we have had so much consistency of excellence in the wide range of music that we love.

This website tries its small best to reflect that.

Here’s to more in 2026!
